I think this is generally more annoying than sharing one of your own comments/comment threads to the main page. There are some comments that get shared by the author that actually are worth while which may have otherwise been overlooked, or they draw me in to an article I might not have been interested enough in to click on. Some shared comments could have been their own post.
But "reposting" is dumb. It's like crying for attention. If you really feel your post did not get enough attention, go to that post, click on edit, published, scheduled, then set it for a minute into the future. It is suddenly back on top without admitting it is a repost. Or use the scheduled feature to automatically publish your post at peak traffic time in the first place. I used that method a few times. Mostly to avoid a post getting lost in the night crowd and instead schedule it for the morning. Two or so times I bumped an article back to the top, one example was when I got zero replies about leather repair suggestions. Not because I didn't get enough compliments on my photodump pictures.
